The ruins of the Tynemouth Castle and Priory:
This is the 5th time I have been to England in the last 16 years, and I have come here at least once every time. There is always something new to surprise me.
Somewhat modern weaponry:
This is a 6 inch gun emplacement used in World War 1. Today was the first opportunity I have ever had to look inside the magazine.
The mouth of the Tyne River:
The pier and lighthouse on the left is part of Northshields where I am staying. The one on the right is part of Southshields. Before the piers were built, incoming ships would be subject to the full force of the North Sea, and many ships were wrecked.
Mollusks!!
I came across a massive group of snails while walking back to the house from the seaside. I can't recall ever seeing snails outside of a lab, so I was pretty thrilled. Some of them were quite large. Every time I spotted one, there would be a bigger one a foot away from the previous snail. I'm sure if the owners of the house were home, they would be thinking: what a strange person, why on earth is he taking photographs of our bricks!
